Sooo... I made a tumblr account. I am still trying to figure it out. And by "it" I mean everything.

Do any of you have a tumblr? If so...any help/suggestions/recommendations?

Etsy Mail

That is a terrible picture of all of my recent Etsy purchases, but that won't stifle my excitement for them! And it just so happened that the battery on my camera died the day I got these and of course I lost my charger. But no worries, I have a new charger! Now I'm going to break it down for you.
These prints are awesome. I bought them at buttercreamindustry. I featured their human heart on an earlier blog, and I caved in and bought it! I also bough the blue print with the mammoth skeleton. Each print came with a second of the same so I can give one to a friend. Then I got my packages and they threw in all those extra prints! Some of them have a postcard layout on the back and I even got a couple stickers! It was a sweet surprise! Now I am on a mission to find frames and paint them awesome colors.
This is Beatrix. I LOVE her! I found her at DeadPanAlley and I am looking forward to a new animal-human morph to be created by her. I hear there may be one in the works! (fingers crossed). AND the artist includes an original drawing (not a print!) with every shipment! That cute little owl was my extra drawing. I love the pair of them.
This is a terrible picture of the ring I bought from ashleyjewlery. This just doesn't do it justice! It is the perfect ring and it had the perfect fit and I am going to buy a matching set of earrings, I can't wait. The best part is, as I mentioned in an earlier blog, she has been donating 50% of all her sales to Doctors Without Boarders for Haitian Realief. Amazing!
Lastly, I bought some soap from MadHatterSoap. I have been eying this soap for a long time. I spent a day reading descriptions and deciding which ones I wanted to try in the sample pack. Once I made my decisions I was ready to buy and then they went on vacation for a month! So I waited and waited and they finally came back! I swooped in and picked the ones pictured.
You may have noticed one is missing....I waited as long as I could!! I am stocking up on this scent, Pompadour...yum! Soap, lotion, whatever! I want it all. It is so fancy! Or at least it makes me feel fancy, it is like an indulgence for me. I want more! I just can't get enough.

Now it is just a waiting game until I will allow myself to splurge again. I am thinking the end of February until my next Etsy spree.

10 things I am never without.

You will always find these things in my purse at any given time. (Cellphone and wallet go without saying)

1. A hair tie. You know I mean business when I put my hair up.

2. A book. You never know when you will end up in a waiting room, or lobby and you will need the distraction. If I walk into a waiting room and see one person reading and another texting I am going to have higher regards for the person with a book.

3. Aleve. This is my best fix for a sudden headache when there is still work to be done.

4. A pen. I always need a pen when there isn't one in my purse.

5. Chap stick (No color). MN weather does harsh things to your lips!

6. Lotion. MN weather does harsh things to your skin! :)

7. Anti-Bac Hand Sanitizer. I like to use this after browsing through a thrift store.

8. Camera. Perfect when you see an outfit you like that you would want to re-create or just something really pretty. I have caught myself taking pictures of the Minneapolis skyline when the sun hits the buildings a certain way. I sometimes feel like I am driving towards Emerald City when I see the green reflections.

9. 2 bobby pins. Whether it is for your hair or your Macgyver moment (they make great zipper pulls)

10. A small notebook. To write down your sudden bursts of genius!

Warning: I have an obsession with large purses. I think it stems from my early childhood obsession with Mary Poppins. Remember when she is pulling everything out of her bag, including a lamp? This magnitude of items is not suitable for everyone.

I think I am having a mid life crisis....okay quarter life crisis.

Last week I started regretting leaving school. I wanted to be back in school, right then. So I went back to the website I had visited so many times and even saw my face on the web page a few times, the web page that was my life for 4 years. The website I wanted to be part of my life, right now. The website of my university.

I started thinking, maybe I can go back to be a teacher...the career I had originally gone to school for. Or I thought maybe I could pick up another certificate...something! Turns out I really screwed myself over. There was no way I would have the time or money to go back. If I would have majored in English I could grab a teaching certificate with probably a couple semesters. But no, I majored in Communication and minored in English like an idiot. I am at the point of no return, I understand that now. If I went back it would never be what it was.

So here I am, in MN, working.

Slackin' like it's my day job.

I know... I haven't been bloggin'.

I have lost my camera charger and the batter died. I know I don't NEED my camera to blog, but I feel lost without it! Even if it is just a point a shoot...that camera has been with me a while and I just don't feel like I can contribute a proper blog without her working. That is an exaggeration, but I am going with it.

BUT, I ordered a new charger online and I am expecting it within the week, then I may be back to some kind of order here.

Thrifting Goodness 1.22.10

I went thrifting in Minneapolis this weekend. In the picture are all of my awesome finds. The red milk crate is packed with crafting goodness that I didn't want to spread out. I am pretty excited about all of it, I feel like I got lucky! I found a few new stores and went to my regulars that never let me down.

As I mentioned in an earlier post I am trying to save money...so I am avoiding the MOA, but you can't keep me from my thrift stores.

I figure I go thrifting enough that I will dedicate a post each time to my finds. Should I list what I find, or just leave it up to your imagination?

Charity is stylish too.

I realize I have not written a post about Haiti. When a tragic event happens, sometimes you just don't know what to say. Words can only help so much, it is the action that makes a difference.

Bringing me to the point of this blog. This morning I heard about the 6.1 aftershock in Haiti and read an accompanying ...article... One quote caught my eye "We have to wash with vodka and we have to operate with hacksaws because we don't have enough operating tools." That thought alone is terrifying. I can't even begin to imagine what people are going through there.

I then turned to Etsy to see what sellers were doing. I came upon this ...shop... She is donating 50% of every sale to Doctors without Borders. I had seen other sellers donating as well but I felt strongly about this charity, especially after that article I read this morning. I bought the ring pictured above to do my small part. I encourage you to see what else she has...you can be stylish and charitable. Maybe a V-Day gift showing the one you love that not only do you care about them but others as well.

If jewelry isn't your thing I encourage you to donate to Doctors without Borders ...here... or find a charity you feel strongly about. Every penny counts.
